The Paramount Chief of Ntrubo Traditional Area in the Nkwanta South constituency of Volta region, Nana Tedibo Kowura Odamba II, has demanded explanation from government why no personality from the constituency has been made a minister in the Mahama-led government.

According to him, despite the area being loyal supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has voted massively for the party at all elections, not a single individual from the area has been honoured from with any high political office in order to help the people.

The chief expressed his displeasure when the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah called on him and his people at a durbar on Thursday as part of his campaign tour of the Region ahead of the crucial December 7 general elections.

Nana Tedibo Kowura Odamba II noted that this is one of the issues that has bothered the chiefs and people of the area for so long a time, as the situation denies the constituency of certain needed development.

"We this constitution has always helped NDC to win elections. We don’t know how you appoint ministers and deputy ministers, for all this years this area has supported the NDC, are we saying no one from here is worthy of being a minister. How come it is so, I’m putting it before today so that you explain things to us, because we just can’t understand it. We know how ministers are able to lobby for projects to help his/her area to develop. But for all these year’s we have supported the NDC, we’ve not had any such support.”

The Chief of Staff in response explained that though the area’s Member of Parliament, Gershon Gbediame was not made an MP, he served in the leadership of Parliament which is equally a high office in the public sector.

He urged the chiefs to throw their support behind President Mahama by voting massively for him for another term of office in order for him to complete the developmental projects he’s has commended in the area.
