Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK & Ireland has assured Ghanaian business owners in the UK he will work to help address the challenges the faced in the trade.

“The businesses you are engaged in continue to make a positive impact on the economy back home and that is why I have come to see at first hand where you are operating from”- Papa says.

The High Commissioner made these remarks on a visit to about 45 Ghanaian owned businesses in the London area as part of his efforts to acquaint himself with their operational challenges and how best the high commission can help address those.

Most of the businesses he visited are into the importation of foodstuffs such as fish, dairy products, drinks and vegetables from Ghana, and they continue to have challenges with UK custom officials.

H.E Owusu-Ankomah’s visit forms part of his community outreach initiative aimed at meeting Ghanaians resident in the UK and acquainting himself with their aspirations and challenges.

Notable among the shops visited include Nyame Bekyere groceries Brixton, Techiman Market in Harlesden, Kaneshie market Dalston, Uncle John’s bakery Tottenham among others.

Papa Owusu Ankomah was accompanied on the visit by his Deputy, Mrs Rita Tani Iddi and other officials of the High Commission.
