The Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, said it was good to appoint young people into governance but their sense of humility would determine how far they would go.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong said all over the world young people were nurtured to succeed the elderly and so there was nothing wrong to appoint them into higher political offices, adding; “it is the ideal situation”.

However, when these young people lost their sense of humility and exhibited arrogance in office, the electorates would then reject them, he said.

“It is a wonderful thing to have young people around matured elderly people who would serve as their mentors and nurture them on the values and visions to carry on the mantle,” he said.

Rev. Opuni said the youth should know that Ghanaians would not tolerate arrogance adding; “leadership is service so all those in Public Service must do away with arrogance.”

He, however, admitted that Ghana had had very humble and hardworking young people who had made good use of the opportunity and shown prowess in every area they found themselves.
