Musician Wanlov the Kubolor has taken a dig at filmmaker Socrate Safo while attempting to defend the unconventional behavior of Rosemond Brown, known in showbiz circles as Akuapem Poloo.
Wanlov, who has been hit with a salvo of criticisms following his lifestyle, is perplexed over some people’s resolve to not have association with Akuapem Poloo because of how awkward she acts and describes such persons as “insecure”.
But his defense did not come without a jab. In an interview with MzGee, the FOKN Bois member said people should loosen up and associate with Akuapem Poloo because he was able to do so with Socrate Safo despite the movie producer’s decision to shoot a film titled ‘Hot Fork’.
“Those people are insecure. What’s the association? I’ve sat in an interview with Socrate, somebody who did a very bad film – Hot Fork. In a whole film, a fork is on a stove at one point in the movie [and] you call the film Hot Fork?” he said while stressing on his love for Akuapem Poloo’s zeal.
“I like her. I love Akuapem Poloo. I think she takes some risks and I admire her for how she gets out of those risks. I haven’t invested much energy to see her flaws and stuff to really take a strong decision about her.”
A sarcastic Wanlov was quick to add that he has a very good relationship with Socrate Safo and has even been having interactions with him lately.
“I don’t have a problem with Socrate. I’ve been seeing him recently and chatting with him. I’m just happy he is now rich. I feel he is rich. I don’t know, maybe Atiwa Forest was his property. He seems to be doing well. His skin is glowing,” Wanlov mentioned.
Released in 2010, ‘Hot Fork’ which featured Ekow Freeman, Sam Uche Anyamele, Vivian Achor, Marian Addo, Phil Ayisi, Baby Blench, Duke Felix (Paada) among others, courted controversy as some argued the title was suggestive.
There were reports that some members of the censorship board served notice they would not preview the movie and suggested the title be changed while others agreed to watch and see how the title reflects in the story.
In defense, Socrate Safo insisted, “The whole movie is about a hot kitchen fork, which was used to commit a crime and how investigators were able to see who committed the crime and how it was done.”
