In view of this alarming situation, the management of Africa University of Communication Studies is planning a mental health seminar for all its students.
Dr. Koeyoe Anim-Wright, president of the school in an interview with Ghanaweb said “Individuals who commit suicide feel isolated, therefore, the was the need for the school to organize such programs to sensitized the students”.
She said the school has arranged with local nearby hospitals, where they can refer students to but the most important thing is to make their students know that they are not alone in whatever situation they made find themselves.
This initiative is believe to be in accordance with the statement issued out by the Mental Health Authority, which says "the alarming rate of suicide can be prevented if the society and counselling centers in schools played their roles effectively".
