Asante Kotoko deputy trainer Akakpo Patron has revealed that his side was confident of victory ahead of their clash with Cameroonian champions Coton Sport Garoua in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off stage.

The Porcupine Warriors recorded a historic 3-2 win over the Cameroonian giants to take a giant step towards qualification into the group stage of the competition on Sunday.

And Patron has revealed that his side was optimistic of grabbing the win even before going into the clash.

“We’re sure of victory even before we went into the match. Our target was to grab the win there so the second leg will not be too difficult for us in Kumasi,” he told the media after the game in Cameroon.

Patron, who previously played for Kotoko, was, however, quick to add that the win will not make his aide complacent in the second leg.

“Despite winning in Cameroon, we will not be complacent because they can also win in Kumasi. We will prepare very well for the second leg and can only jubilate after that,” he added.

Kotoko will welcome Coton Sport to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for the second leg on 20th January.
