Arrest the perpetrators of Libya’s injustice – UN

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres has called on African leaders to take a stand against the inhuman act in the ongoing Libya black African trade.

The secretary in a video trending on social media platforms, expressed that, “I am horrified at news report and video footage showing African migrant in Libya reportedly being sold as slaves.”

According to Guterres, the injustice practice by the unidentified Libyan perpetrators should be brought to book thereby allowing the law to take its own cause.

Mr Antanio said, “Abhor this appealing act and called on all competent authorities to investigate this activities without delay. And to bring perpetrators to justice.

“Slavery has no place in our world and these actions are among the most egregious abuses of human right and may amount crimes against humanity.”

“I urge every nation to adopt and apply the UN convention against transnational organised crime and its protocol on trafficking in person and I urge the international community to unite in fighting this scourge”, he urged.

Meanwhile the criminal slaughtering against some Ghanaians and other African countries, has also been condemned by Ghana’s president, Nana Akuffo Addo, describing it as evil.

The president in his twitter handle stated: “The current slave auctions of Africans in Libya are not only gross and scandalous abuses of human rights, but are also mockeries of the alleged solidarity of African nations grouped in the African Union (AU), of which Libya is a member.”

Former president, Rawlings has also sent his sentiment on his facebook page as: “blacks were treated as equals in Libya than in most Arab countries” during Muammar Gaddafi’s time as president of Libya.”

He said, “show a little more compassion to our vulnerable black African brothers and sisters”.
