A lecturer with the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi Campus, Mr. Yarhands Dissou Arthur wants charges of manslaughter pressed against the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and some security personnel for exposing the live of the President to danger.
“The Regional Minister and anyone in charge of security in the region must be put before a law court to explain why they allowed the President to be in an area dangerous for his health”.
According to National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team member in the region, the Regional Police Commander, Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) Boss, Regional Security Coordinator as well as the minister must explain their actions in a law court for exposing the President to H1N1 influenza virus.
“These people are paid by the State to protect the President but they slept on their jobs exposing the President to danger”, the NDC apologist accused.
Speaking to mynewsgh.com reporter in the region, Mr. Yarhands Dissou Arthur called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of persons responsible for the President’s security.
Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has revealed President Nana Akufo-Addo was “exposed” to the H1N1 outbreak at the Kumasi Academy in the Ashanti Region, “but was not infected”,
The President a fortnight ago attended the 60th anniversary of the school at which time two students were confirmed dead of the disease – which was recently identified as H1N1 after tests by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
Mr Agyemang-Manu told journalists on Thursday, 7 December that the “acute respiratory illness” most likely H1N1 Flu Virus (Swine Flu) is what has claimed the lives of at least eight students of the same school.
According to Mr Agyemang-Manu, influenza type A was isolated from 12 out of 19 samples at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
