The Chairperson of the Civil Society Platform on Oil and Gas, Dr. Steve Manteaw has called for the formulation of more effective laws and regulations to manage the petroleum resources of the country.

Speaking Thursday during an advocacy forum in Takoradi organized by Penplusbytes in partnership with the EIB Election Hub on the theme 'Does Oil and Gas matter in Ghana’s Election', he said the fundamental challenges the country faces in managing its natural resources is bad governance.

He faulted current and successive governments for not putting in place proper governance system to tap the benefits from the country’s oil and gas sector.

Thus, he said, government must enacts laws and regulations to effectively manage the country’s oil and gas resources saying “we do not have the full compliment of the laws and regulations we need to manage this resource –called Oil and Gas.”
