National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has accused some flagbearer hopefuls of the party of refusing to contribute to its reorganization and yet are loud in the media just to make it look unattractive.

He mentioned Second Deputy Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and Sylvester Mensah as those who were approached by leaders of the party but have refused to contribute in any way towards solidifying the fortunes of the party ahead of the 2020 elections.

“We approached all of them and no one was willing to contribute to the reorganization of the party. And I am daring you to ask them if they have contributed in any way towards party reorganization”, he dared on Joy FM.

Asked by host Evans Mensah what kind of contributions the party required from these flagbearer aspirants, Mr Adams said anything that will facilitate the party’s activities revealing that it is only former President John Dramani Mahama who has consistently come to the rescue of the party.

He cited instances where he also contributed towards party activities rubbishing claims the Unity Walks are being bankrolled by the ex-President.

While stating that public commentary of Bagbin and his cohorts are not helping in party unity and cohesion, he wants the two to shut up and allow executives to do their work warning of sanctions should they continue with the current trend.

“It is clear we must take an action [because] we are very unhappy with the behavior of these seniors,” he suggested to the party’s National Executive Committee.

“It appears they are happy that we are in this position otherwise they will be spending more time towards the party’s reorganization”, the 2016 campaign coordinator of the party spoke on Joy FM’s Top Story.

Meanwhile, a group has petitioned the party’s council of elders to look into the conduct of Mr Alban Bagbin indicating that it is in variance with August 22, 2017, Press Release of the Council of Elders of the NDC.

Below is the press statement by the group

My brother, Andrews Amadi Krow, and I on Wednesday, January 17, 2017, wrote to the Council of Elders of our Party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to complain about the inappropriate actions of the MP for Nadowli-Kaleo, Hon. Alban Bagbin, which actions are at variance with August 22, 2017, Press Release of the Council of Elders of the NDC.

The Council of Elders’ statement called on all members of the NDC “to respect the party structures and procedures in resolving internal grievances and conflicts”. The Council also asked all members to stop the practice of “ventilating their grievances in public through the electronic, print and social media” bringing “the good name of the Party into disrepute”.

Obviously, Mr. Bagbin has violated all of these positions and it is our hope that the Council will consider our complaint and take the necessary steps. This will prevent others from taking a cue and returning to the media and public space to defend and explain themselves.

The NDC must remain united for 2020. The NDC must follow disciplinary rules laid down by the Party. Our seniors must be seen to be leading the way.
