Boy who failed to get SHS placement commits suicide

A 16-year-old boy identified as Daniel Mensah, who sat for the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination and got aggregate 47, has committed suicide in Brenuakyim, a town at Tarkwa in the Western region.

The decease hanged himself after he failed to get a placement to any of his selected Senior High Schools after the placement was released.

Daniel who although failed his BECE exams, he was hopeful of getting a placement in an SHS so he could continue with his education- a dream which failed to come true leading him to take his own life.

Uncle of the deceased, Ebo Ayitey in an interview on Adom News said, Daniel before killing himself left a suicide note for his parents urging them not to think about him anymore.

“I can’t stay on this earth anymore because I did not get school,” the suicide note read.
