Former head coach of Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablan Akunnor has expressed his readiness to manage any of the National teams in the country.

Akonnor who has had stints with a number of the Ghanaian national teams serving as an assistant to Frimpong Manso in the U-17 and the U-20 team believes it’s time for him to coach at the highest level in his career.

Bursting onto the managerial world in 2009, Akunnor coached Sekondi Eleven Wise before landing a big deal with Premier League giants, Hearts of Oak. He later left to join Division One League side Dreams FC where he built a solid team that went on to qualify for the Premier League after his departure.

Akonnor also enjoyed glorious stints with Ashgold helping them reach the summit of the Premier League table before he was snatched away by the ferocious porcupines, Asante Kotoko. The former Black Stars captain chalked successes with Kotoko reaching the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stages and winning the NC Special Competition Tier1 cup.

With all these achievements and experiences, the 45-year-old believes he has paid his dues and needs to be rewarded with a job as head coach of any of the national teams.

“I have had the chance of being an assistant to Frimpong Manso in the U17 and the U20 as well,” Akonnor told Joy News in an interview.

He added, “I have had the chance of being with Right to Dream Academy, Dreams FC, Ashgold and Kotoko. I have served in that manner and I think that should be it.

“It’s either I get a chance within the national team or look forward to go abroad and expand myself as a coach at club level,” the former Wolfsburg player said

However, Akonnor is not desperate to get a team because he’s identified his needs.

“What is important is I know what I want and because of that, I always look back to where I started from. When I look back I feel I have done something. For me, it’s all about serving and I served Asante Kotoko to the highest level,” Akonnor concluded
