Mr Kofi Amoakohene, the Bono East Regional Minister, has commended the region’s health workers and other stakeholders for their commitment to preventing the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region.

The region is among those without confirmed cases of the disease in the country and precautionary measures including the observation of the social distancing protocols, wearing of nose masks and use of other personal protective equipment as required were being enforced stringently for the prevention of the spread disease, he said.

Mr Amoakohene, also the Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amanten gave the commendation over the weekend when he met a cross-section of the Management of the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly and representatives of selected organisations including the Nkoranza Traditional Council as part of his tour of the region to have firsthand information on how the assemblies have been working against the spread of the COVID-19.

He said the pandemic was a threat to the human resource retention and development of the region and the country at large, hence the need for the assemblies and their respective Security Councils and COVID-19 Taskforces to work assiduously for the citizenry to observe and comply with measures in place to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Regional Minister lauded the Regional Health Directorate, the COVID-19 teams, the traditional authorities and other stakeholders for the current regional situation.

Dr Fred Adumako Boateng, the Regional Director of Health Services, said health workers would continue to perform their legitimate duties to contribute in the fight against the disease and urged the citizenry to continue to adhere to the rules in curbing the spread of the virus.
