Cape Coast mayor visits Central Mosque

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ernest Arthur has paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Cape Coast Central Mosque at Kotokuraba on Friday, 5th May 2017. This is coming days after receiving 100 percent confirmation of the assembly members in the area on 2nd May 2017.

Mr. Ernest Arthur expressed his appreciation to the elders of the Central Mosque for the support and prayers he enjoyed from them during his days as the Chairman of the Cape Coast South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party.

According to him, his visit was to first and foremost introduce himself as the President’s representative to the leadership of the Moslem community and to seek their continued prayers as he takes office as the MCE of Cape Coast. He also made his vision for Cape Coast which is premised on three key areas – education, job creation and sanitation – known to them.

“I wish to assure you that, I am going to run an all inclusive administration and my doors are always opened for discussions and suggestions. Please feel free to come to my office to discuss with me any issue that will help the development of the Metropolis,” he stated.

On his part, the Chief of the Zongo community, Alhaji Mahmoud Ibrahim commended the MCE for his visit and called on the Moslem community to give the new MCE the needed support to develop Cape Coast to a more deserving state.

He also admonished the MCE to work hard to support the vision of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Prayers for wisdom and protection were said by the Moslem leaders for the MCE and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.

Earlier in the morning, Mr. Ernest Arthur visited Eagle FM and ATL FM at the Cape Coast Technical University and the University of Cape Coast respectively to interact with their listeners and the people of Cape Coast. During both interactions, the MCE promised that his office will make sure that old occupants of the Old Kotokuraba Market with valid documents as proof will first be allocated with stores before new applicants are considered.

“I want to assure you that, it will never happen that a new applicant will be given a store at the Kotokuraba Market when an old occupant (registered lockable shops) has not been served. will not happen under my watch.” Mr. Arthur reiterated. Ernest Arthur is expected to officially start work as the Mayor of Cape Coast on Monday, 8th May 2017.
