The family of late Captain Maxwell A. Mahama has made a passionate appeal for a monument to be constructed in honour of their son.

The family believes such a monument will serve as a reminder for lynching to be stopped.

Captain Mahama was lynched on Monday, May 29 by irate youth of Denkyira Obuasi on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a group of people he asked for directions from spotted a gun on him.

Fourteen suspects are being held in police custody in relation to the case as investigations continue.

The family made this appeal when the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, and leadership of parliament visited the bereaved family at its Burma Camp resident.

Family spokesperson W.O Samed expressed the family’s appreciation to the support shown to them by the entire country.
