President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo today delivered his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament Thursday February 21 2019.

He touched on virtually every sector of the economy and what his government has done over the last three years to justify the mandate and confidence reposed in him by the Ghanaian people.

Delivering his third SoNA, before members of the Legislative House, the President noted that a 40-million dollar grant has been approved by the World Bank to improve Ghana's tourism and Creative Arts sector because his administration is concerned with the progress of tourism in the country and so has put realistic steps in place to support the Tourism Ministry and its agencies.

The President also identified tax exemptions as the bane of Ghana’s development where he stated that if state agencies are unable to collect taxes and the tax exemption regime is allowed to thrive, in less than 16 years, half of Ghana’s revenue base will be given away through tax exemptions.

It was quite interesting to see though, the comportment of minority members who were unusually calm, listening to the President deliver the State of Nation’s Address.

Former Presidents, Jerry John Rawlings, and John Dramani Mahama were among notables present in parliament together with members of the diplomatic community.

The State of the Nation Address is an annual address to Parliament by the President of the Republic of Ghana covering economic, social and financial state of the country, according to Article 67 of the country's constitution.
