A former Northern Regional Minister, Moses Bukari Mabengba has attributed the never-ending communal clashes between the Anufors and the Konkombas in the Chereponi Traditional Area to unfair media reportage.
In an interview, he posited that some media houses in Ghana are full of mediocrity and thus cautioned them against sensationalism in dealing with the Chereponi issues.
He insisted that some local Correspondents out of malice have taken entrenched positions and painting the Konkombas as "Warmongers" without getting their side of the unfortunate situation anytime it resurfaced..
As a member of a bipartisan Committee mediating the clashes, Moses Bukari Mabengba called for a multifaceted approach to permanently solve the problems there.
He further urged chiefs, opinion and youth leaders in the troubled communities to stop the blame game and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.
He stressed the need to depoliticize the clashes which have overtime caused several deaths and displaced hundreds of people.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his recent tour of the newly created North East Region called for a truce in the Chereponi Traditional Area.
He tasked the chiefs and people of the area to permanently halt the clashes saying, "The time has come to bring these incidences of violence and conflicts to an end."
"The Ghana that we are trying to build does not have space for conflicts and unnecessary violence. Please let peace remain in this part of the country, ” he pleaded.
