The Mayor for the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality, Anthony K.K. Sam, remains at work at his Municipal Assembly even though his personal driver has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

Empire FM’s Emmanuel Ohene Gyan reports that there was no form of quarantine for the Mayor, as he is currently chairing meetings at the office to determine whether the market circle would be closed or not.

The Mayor’s driver whose name is unknown has been put into isolation and is currently receiving treatment, as he is reported to be in a stable condition

Ohene-Gyan, however, notes that staff of the Assembly are expressing fear and anxiety, with some raising concerns over the health of the Mayor.

Meanwhile, the Western Region has been declared as the new Covid-19 hotspot in the country, as the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality recorded 57 new cases as of today.

The Regional Health Directorate Starr News can confirm, have not been informed.

Information reaching Starr News also indicates that the Regional Director of Health Services is not at post whiles his two deputies and other top officials have not received any call from the Health Ministry or the Ghana Health Service to that effect.
