Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen, wants the president, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to be celebrated for the efforts made in resolving the nearly two decades old Dagbon impasse.

He says, this is historic and that it will put an end to the yearly conflicts which have claimed innocent lives over the years.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that though the Andani’s may have a case on paper, the peace of Dagbon now is paramount and that is what the President has delivered.

"There have been successive government who did their part but were unable to resolve it but let’s give credit to where it is due and that is the President, H.E. Nana Addo," he added.

"You see as a lawyer for the Abudus', we have been in and out of court all this period just to see how this case can be resolved. Even after there was a landmark court ruling for the Abudus to organize the funeral of the late Ya Na, the Andanis were not satisfied and that is how come a committee of eminent chiefs was set up to have the case resolved and this is historic".

However, in a sharp rebuttal, Member of Parliament for Juabeso, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh says the President Nana Addo should not feel swollen-headed because of the praises showered on him for the resolution of the Dagbon conflict.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme, he explained that the current president's predecessor also played a significant role in the peace in the area.

"Former President Mahama did his part and he must be acknowledged for his role," he stated.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, just as the royal occupant of the Golden Stool, HRM Otumfour Osei Tutu II said; "is a lucky president to have the Dagbon crises resolved in his time and I repeat, the president is just lucky to have the crisis resolved and a new Ya-Na en-skinned during his tenure as president."

Following the approval of a road-map for peace in Dagbon, the final funeral rites of former overlords of Dagbon were conducted, and a new Yaa-Naa named in the person Abukari Mahama II.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, former President John Dramani Mahama among other dignitaries were in Dagbon to grace the historic coronation of Abubakari Mahama II as the new Yaa-Naa.
