Former Western Regional FA Chairman, Kojo Yankah has been left wondering why the Ghana Football Association has had to run to government to plead for a share of the Coronavirus stimulus package when the government actually owes the GFA.

According to Kojo Yankah, the government owes the GFA around US $4-$5 million and therefore its best they pursue that, instead of begging for a small portion of the Coronavirus fund.

The Ghana FA and GHALCA put forward a joint petition to government to release a portion of the state’s Coronavirus stimulus package to help clubs to deal with their financial state in this period of inactivity.

The GFA is yet to get a final response on government’s willingness to give and how much will be given eventually.

Kojo Yankah has criticized the move arguing that it’s not necessary.

“This is the time we should stop going to government. It’s needless”, he told Asempa FM.

“It’s not necessary at all going to government for money because of COVID-19. FIFA has already released funds to that effect, why go to government again. They’re just disgracing the GFA. It’s like they don’t know what they’re doing”.

“They should stop disgracing us and demand the money that government owes us.”

Kojo Yankah, a former Executive Committee member of the Ghana FA, wants the country’s football governing body to push for payment of the monies government owes them.

“Why do you worry yourself going to government for money, meanwhile government owes the GFA almost $4-5 million dollars” he said.

“Why don’t they go for it because we have written several letters to that effect…They owe because they made us advance payment for the various national team activities. Why don’t you go for our money with them” he concluded.
