Ekow Smith-Asante shows interest in Deputy Creative Arts Minister spot

Many known and unknown names have popped up as key personalities for the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts position.

Kasapafmonline.com is reliably informed by a source close to Ghanaian actor, Ekow Smith-Asante who is currently abroad, that he has also shown interest in the position.

According to the source, Asante hinted that he is available to serve his nation being a patriotic citizen. He noted that he is ready to serve in any creative art position he is entrusted with.

The source also indicated that the popular actor is lobbying his way through firmly through some bigwigs in the New Patriotic Party.

Ekow, has vast knowledge and skill in all aspects of the industry and has been an influential figure in the industry.

He’s a native of Mampong Akropong said after completing the Presbyterian Training College, Akropong, he was introduced to Freelance Players in 1994 by colleague actor, Wakefield Ackuaku of Nyankonton Players. He is a former student of the Ghanata Senior High School in Dodowa and has a Masters degree in Communications Studies from the University of Ghana.

He featured in TV series such as Sun City but his big break came in 2003 when he landed the lead role in Super Stars which also featured the late Suzzie Williams. Since then, he has featured in many movies including Brave Souls, Royal Battle, Suffering to Lose among others.

For a while, persons within the creative arts industry have been advocating that His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo should nominate someone with a creative background.

Other persons who are keen on occupying the deputy minister position include, Socrate Safo (Movie Producer/Director), Hon. Titus Glover ((Tema East MP), Dzigbordzi Dosoo (Alure SPA CEO), Juliet Asante (Movie Producer/Director), Shirley Frimpong-Manso (Director/Producer), Kwadwo Antwi (marketer), Akwasi Agyemang (CEO- Global Media Alliance) and Oscar Provencal aka Inspector Bediako.

Madam Catherine Afeku, Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts on some radio platforms indicated that she will be pleased to work with a male who has creative arts background.
