The Emile Short Commission has presented its report of the Ayawaso West Wougon violence inquiry to President Akufo-Addo.

The presentation was made by Justice Emile Short, who is the chairman of the Commission at the Jubilee house in Accra.

The president expressed his appreciation to the commission for accepting to render their services to the people of Ghana and congratulated them for a good work done.

“I will like to thank you on behalf of the people of Ghana and hopefully your findings and recommendations will help us rule out election violence that has become a culture of our partisan politics,” he stated.

The president noted that it was his responsibility to ensure that the people of Ghana go about their duties in a peaceful environment.

“Our duty is to confront the realities of the day and find a panacea that will assure the people of Ghana that they can go about their normal duties including the exercise of their constitution and political rights in an atmosphere of peace and freedom that is our main concern,” he stated

He assured the Commission and the people of Ghana that the findings presented to him will be given the necessary attention to enforce law and order in the country.

“The findings and the recommendation that has been made will be giving the necessary attention by me and my government, we have the responsibility of ensuring law and order and that responsibility is not that will be abdicated on any occasion so to the extent that this commission’s recommendations can help us advance the enforcement of law and order in our country it will be the subject of close study and I will respond appropriately,” he stated.
