Mr James Dugrah, a Former President of Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has chastised politicians for causing fear and panic among Senior High School (SHS) students over implementation of the double-track policy.

Addressing the media at a News conference in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, Mr Dugrah said the criticism coming from politicians were only politicking the double-track policy and poisoning the educational atmosphere in Ghana.

He called on all stakeholders and parents to ignore the “gross hypocrisy” that do not lay any immediate practical suggestion on the table for consideration to ameliorate the challenging situation.

He said all politicians who bend on criticising the double-track policy without suggested solutions would score zero political point.

“The only concern is that, they would end up creating unnecessary fear, panic and insecurity in the academic atmosphere for innocent children,” he lamented.

Mr Dugrah who is also the Executive Secretary for Double-Track Volunteers therefore cautioned politicians to stay far away from causing fear and panic among students over the policy.

Adding that they should rather be motivating and encouraging children to have peace of mind to study at their various schools rather than painting a bad image of the policy.

“As educationists, we know a child cannot and never be able to learn in an insecure, condemned and a hopeless academic environment,” he noted.

He said positive remarks and constructive criticisms would go a long way to instil hope, confidence, appreciation and security for our children to learn for their personal actualisation.

Mr Dugrah appealed to the media not to allow their medium to be used by prophets of doomsayers to make derogative comments about the double-track and preaching fear, curses and hopelessness to school children

He said we are tempted to say the anti-double trackers who blatantly condemn the policy without any immediate practicable solutions for the right way because of their socio-political interest as nothing, but the best batch of judges of evil thoughts and God shall never give them chance to be vindicated.

He called on teachers, parents, politicians and all well-meaning Ghanaians to come together with practicable measures that would help solve the problem we have at hand once and for all so that it did not escalate in the near come future.
