Mrs Beauty Emefa Narteh, the Executive Secretary, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), has condemned the brazen act of murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist.

She said the action of the unidentified persons constituted an attack on media freedom and the fight against corruption.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mrs Narteh said the killing of the journalist did not guarantee the right space needed by journalists to discharge their constitutional mandate.

The murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, she said, was a critical test for the security agencies to swiftly and thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.

“It will be deeply worrying in our democratic dispensation if the murder of Ahmed Hussein is linked to his role in uncovering corruption within the football fraternity in the “Number 12” video,” she said.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to Ahmed Hussein’s family, the Tiger Eye PI Team and the Journalism fraternity.”

Mrs Narteh expressed the hope that the issue would not deter journalists from continuing to engender and shape public discourse on the negative effects of corruption on national development.

The late Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a Member of the Tiger Eye PI Team, was killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday, January 16, at Madina near Accra.

He was reportedly shot three times; twice in the chest and another in the neck.

He played a key role in the investigative piece of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ “Number 12” video on football corruption in Ghana.
