Black Meteors defender Edward Sarpong has pleaded with the government to temporarily open the country’s borders for citizens stuck outside the country to return home despite extending ban.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressing the country over the weekend extended the ban on Ghana boarders till the end of May.

The move is aimed at stopping the importation of new cases of coronavirus into the country.

Sarpong, who ply his trade for Portuguese outfit Esperanca De Lagos indicated that, the move by the President to extend ban has affected him and some of his colleagues abroad.

“If fact the move to close boarders until ending of this month is not easy because we are struggling here. Many Ghanaians here are complaining bitterly about it because they find it difficult to pay for their apartment and food. So I will say the extension has affected us a lot especially me”

“I will plead with the president to open the boarders for us despite announcing an extension because we are suffering. I pray God touches his heart so he can lift the ban so we can come back home. A lot of things are going bad in Portugal and so, we will plead with him to consider those of us who are outside Ghana. Many are stranded elsewhere and waiting for the ban to be lifted so they come home” he told Sylvester Ntim ‘Koke’ of Bryt FM in an interview.
