The National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has accused the Akufo-Addo led administration of plunging Ghana into an insecure state.

Addressing a press conference in Accra Wednesday, April 12, the Chairman of the opposition NDC, Kofi Portuphy said the mood of the nation has been that of fear and insecurity since the NPP took office.

“The impunity with which the NPP sponsored gangs behave has cast a slur on Ghana’s democracy…we believe that the NPP government is complicit in the actions of the vigilante groups”

The NPP administration has been blighted by activities of vigilante groups namely the Invincible and the Delta forces who have attacked several state facilities to drive out some civil workers.

Last week members of the Delta Force in Kumasi assaulted the President’s regional security appointee and later stormed a Circuit Court to free 13 of their colleagues who were standing trial for the assault.

The 13 pleaded guilty to the offence of escaping from lawful custody, and were fined Gh¢2,400 each when they were arraigned Tuesday morning.

The NDC, however, added that it will resist any attempt by the NPP to govern with fear and cohesion.
