The Acting General Secretary of the governing NPP has hinted of government's plan to support late Capt. Mahama's family.

He condemned the gruesome murder of the captain and urged security agencies to get to the bottom of the case.

He was speaking at a press conference organised by the party to detail its line of activities ahead of the 2017 delegates conference in Cape Coast from 25 to 27th August.

"As you all know the country is still mourning the death of Capt. Maxwell Adam Mahama and as such we wish to once again express our condolence to the bereaved family. I will also like to announce that government will today take a decision and announce the plans the state has for the late captain and the family" John Boadu declared

The acting general appealed to other political parties not to politicise the issue.

He said the matter is very delicate and it should be a time for the country to come together to rebuke the perpetrators of such a heinous act.

He condemned parties that had politicised the matter and pledged the commitment of the NPP to maintaining sanctity as they mourn with the family in these trying times.

"We mourn with the family and we will never play politics with the death of such an innocent soul. We hope that other political parties will also refrain from playing politics with the painful death of a fellow citizen"

The President has assured the family of the deceased of justice for the unfortunate murder of Captain Adam Mahama.

He described it as a despicable act and promised to ensure the necessary institutions prosecute all persons involved in this.

Former President Mahama also pledged to support the wife and children of the murdered Captain.

So far more than 42 people, 38 men and 4 women, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The late Adam Mahama was murdered by residents of Denkyire-Oboase after they mistook him for an armed robber.

He was the leader of a military detachment team in the Upper Denkyira West district of the Central Region protecting illegal mining sites.

The family of the late Captain Mahama has announced June 9 as the date for his burial.

He was survived by a wife and two children.
