Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Amidu, has indicated that he does not seek awards for his fight against corruption but rather does it to serve the nation.

According to him, he has rejected several awards offered by individuals and organisations because he does not believe in lobbying for honours.

Answering a question when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 13, the former Attorney General said there are no awards on his curriculum vitae because “ours is to dedicate ourselves to the service of this nation without making any efforts for recognition because we joined the system not for awards but for what we can do for the people”.

“I never lobbied for it [any award]. In fact people called me after my case in the Supreme Court and offered me awards. They have written to me and I have told them that it is not about Martin Amidu, it is about Ghana. Emulate what I am doing [and] don’t give me an award.

“The government has not given me any award. I know people who took their law bar degrees from national awards, I’m not one such person,” he said.
