The Executive Director of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Duncan Amoah, has indicated his readiness to face the Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) in court after he was sued for defamation.

The BOST MD, Alfred Obeng Boateng, has sued Mr. Amoah contesting allegation by the latter that his(Obeng’s) assigns have issued death threats on him.

He is seeking an injunction to stop Mr. Amoah from further making such unfounded claims as well as GHc5 million in damages.

But speaking to Kasapa News, Duncan Amoah, who said he was yet to be served with the writ, added that his lawyers will effectively deal with the summons.

He was of the view that Mr. Obeng Boateng would have waited for police investigations to end before taking such legal action as the Tema Regional Police Command has taken over the matter.

“The Tema Police has already began investigation into this matter and I expected that we would at least get to end of the investigation so that if there is no substance in those threats, Mr. Obeng Boateng would have taken another course.”

Mr Amoah is alleging that Ghana has lost GHC 23 million of the country’s oil revenue within six months after BOST MD, Alfred Obeng sanctioned the sale of about 1.8 million barrels of crude oil at a reduced price to BB Energy.
