The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has warned that impunity has no place under his watch.

He added that laws of the land will be respected under his government saying rule of law must work.

The President in his Easter message to Ghanaians said, ‘Let me reiterate that it will not be under my watch that people will act with impunity, neither will it be under my watch that the laws of the land will not be respected.

“That will not happen. Crime has no political colour under my government. We are a nation governed by the rule of law and the law will work without fear or favour.”

Condemning the Delta Force assault on a Kumasi Circuit Court, the President remarked that the situation has been brought under control by the security forces.

“Inasmuch as the law enforcement agencies and judiciary have moved in to apply the laws of our land,I know that Ghanaians were dissatisfied with their living standards and the direction in which the country was heading. That is why they voted emphatically for change and that is why I was elected as president of the republic. It is for this reason that I regret very much the unfortunate incident that happened in Kumasi recently. In all the difficulties that have emerged, the events in Kumasi, we believe that those events are systematically being brought under control in the way that they should be, and reassuring the nation that the commitment that we made that we are going to serve Ghana under the conditions of the rule of law,’ he said.

13 members of Delta Force who were standing trial for assaulting the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator George Adjei with the help of their colleagues escaped court custody.

Members of the group who later turned themselves in to the police were charged and granted bail with sureties.

Their 8 colleagues who raided the court and vandalised properties on sight were also granted bail with sureties.
