‘Isolation centres in the Central Region full’ - Health Directorate

The Central Regional Deputy Director in charge of Public Health, Dr Kwabena Sarpong, has disclosed that all the treatment and isolation centres in the Central Region are almost choked due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the region.

The medical practitioner said the treatment centres were almost but quickly added they were in consultation with the regional ministry to help them get new isolation centres to manage cases.

He said they have been able to identify few locations and want authorities to help them secure these places as alternatives.

He said at first they were not encountering any challenge until the re-opening of schools for final year students.

“We are discussing it with the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan and see what we can do about it.”

He revealed this when briefing the public on the number of COVID-19 cases in the region so far and it’s related issues.

The Central Region has so far recorded 584 cases.

The country has also seen an increase in the total case count with 397 new cases being recorded as at Wednesday, June 17.

This brings the total number of cases to 12, 590.

The number of recovered persons has also risen to 4,410, bringing the total number of active cases to 8,114.
