Ms Adjoa Esuama Abrefa, a corporate legal practitioner with specialisation in land property acquisition, has also been appointed as a member of the commission.

A statement signed by Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, on Monday, 23 July 2018, said: “The President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by a letter dated Thursday, 19 July 2018, sought the advice of the Council of State, in accordance with Article 7 (2) of the 1992 Constitution, for the appointment of the New Chair, two deputy chair persons and a member of the Electoral Communications (EC).

“This follows the removal from office on Thursday 28th June 2018 of the former chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei and the two deputies: Mr Amadu Sulley and Mrs Goergina Opoku Amankwah, by President Akufo-Addo after a committee established by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo to investigate petitions brought against them, recommended their removal.
