Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah made a last-ditch acrobatic clearance to help his side hold Seattle Sounders in Week 2 of the Major League Soccer.

Mensah kept his place in Caleb Potter’s starting line-up following his distinctive performance in their slim win against New York City FC in the opening game of the season.

He wore the captain’s armband for the club while registering three interceptions, three clearances, two tackles and won all four of his aerial duels.

With his start in last week’s game, Mensah reached 75 regular-season starts for Crew SC since joining the Club ahead of the 2017 MLS season.

Over that span, Mensah has made 78 regular-season appearances to go with his 75 starts, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

The 29-year-old central defender put in a fantastic shift on the milestone as he made a jaw-dropping last-ditch acrobatic clearance with the scoreline tied 1-1.

American-born Ghanaian striker Gyasi Zardes had given Crew the lead in the 33rd minute.

But a 79th minute penalty by Raul Ruidiaz ensured the game ended 1
