KABA's seat at Asempa studio turned over in symbolic farewell

The Ghana media scene and the entire country has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of Asempa FM presenter, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong aka KABA.

The news of his death sent shock waves across all the media organizations, as many colleague journalist and officials of the present and past government, expressed sorrow at the loss of one of Ghana’s notable journalists.

While the news is still settling with most of his friends and colleagues, the symbolic chapter of his time at Asempa FM, seems to have come to an end. In a photo posted by Hitz FM’s Amanda Jissih, the chair which the late KABA’s sat on, has been ‘turned over’, with the symbolic red cloth hanging above the area, signalling the death of the ‘owner’ of the space.

KABA died on Saturday, November 18, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital following a short illness. He was 37 years old. Meanwhile, the Multimedia Group held a memorial service for the late journalist on Monday morning at their premises.

The ceremony saw attendance from colleagues and workers of Multimedia, come together to express sorrow at the loss of their colleague and sign the book of condolence.

Members of the current ruling party and the opposition were also present to pay their respects, including Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa and Joseph Yamin.
