Former Ghana defender James Kwasi Appiah has admitted that there was division in the camp of the Black Stars during the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

The confirmation by Kwasi Appiah and other players to have played in the tournament gives credence to the fact that disunity and captaincy row saw Ghana lose out on the AFCON title.

Speaking in an interview on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM with Odiasempa Kwame Oware he said, “At the 1992 AFCON, I saw that the division in the team will not help so I spoke to the captain Abedi Ayew Pele, so I could get all the players in my room for us to pray” he revealed on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

Former Black Stars forward Prince Polley, who was part of the squad also admitted to the same facts in an earlier interview on Happy FM.

“It is true there was a division in the team. Abedi Pele’s camp and that of Anthony Yeboah’s.”

Ghana lost in the final to Ivory Coast through the penalty shoot-outs.
