Ex-Ghana President John Mahama has condemned the recent gruesome killing of security personnel in their line of duty.

Mr. Mahama is urging authorities to institute measures to help protect security officers in the country.

The NDC flagbearer comment is in respect to the shooting to death of two police officers at Kasoa in the Central Region on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

“Sad to learn, yet again, of the gruesome killing of two policemen in Kasoa. Our law enforcement officers are doing their best under very challenging circumstances to protect life and property. I, therefore, condemn the increasing spate of violence against them.

May their families be consoled and may the perpetrators be brought to justice sooner than later”, Mr. Mahama said in a Facebook post-Thursday.

In just one month, five police officers have been killed across the country while discharging their duties.

The latest is the shooting to death of two police officers, Sergeant Michael Gyamasi and Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed, at Kasoa Budumburam in the Central Region by armed robbers on Wednesday, 28th August 2019 while on task force duties on the Kasoa-Winneba highway.
