The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Suame Constituency, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has called for peace in the Constituency after two Nigerian-owned shops at Suame in Kumasi, were ransacked by raucous Ghanaian youths in the early hours of Wednesday, 19 June 2019.

The Nigerian traders say they have been targeted, ostensibly for the involvement of Nigerian nationals in the recent alleged kidnappings in Ghana.

But the Member of Parliament says he is destined to lead the peace process in the industrial town of Suame when he spoke to Kwame Tutu, host of Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.

‘I was not around when I heard there was a misunderstanding between Nigerian traders in Suame and Ghanaians living in the area. I want to assure the public that Ghanaians and Nigerians are all brothers and all those internal wranglings between the traders need to stop now, hopeful by the end of the week I will be in the Constituency to ensure there is total peace.’ he said.

He said traditional authorities, residents and all stakeholders will back government in the process to restore peace in the area and noted that without peace, all developmental plans of the government for the area may not be implemented.

He further assured the chiefs of his continued support to help maintain peace and order in the Suame Constituency.
