The question of who becomes the Independent Special Prosecutor (IPP) is still not known to Ghanaians as the president and close associates are reluctant in letting out the name.

The bill for Independent Special Prosecutor was sometime this month laid before parliament and withdrawn days later to rectify some anomalies and be re-laid when parliament reconvenes, but there are propositions that some individuals should occupy the position should the billed be laid, passed and assented to by the President.

One person who is on the front of rooting that the position be given to someone he believes is forthright in fighting corruption in the public sector is the anti-Corruption crusader and Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma Odoben Brokwa, P.C Appiah Ofori

According to him, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice under the Mills’ administration, Martin B.K Amidu is the right person for the job.

“Martin is the one who can handle the job for the Special Prosecutor. I have written to the President telling him why Mr. Amidu should be chosen”, he revealed.

In an interview with Kwame Adinkrah on Kumasi-based Abusua Fm, the Former lawmaker observed that the man has shown over the years that he can fight corruption regardless of which party is in government and which individual is involved.

He cited his personal legal actions against people perceived to have stolen from the state with his personal resources and his professional competence as some of the reasons why Mr. Amidu should be the one.

P.C Appiah Ofori also commended the President for his fight against corruption so far indicating that he appears to be on track.
