NPP National Communications Director, Adomako Baafi has suggested that recent rumours in the media about his sack as the party’s communication Director could be a master plan by some saboteurs to test the waters.

Adomako Baafi noted that the rumours that were put out might be an attempt to test his popularity within the party and his resolve to fight back based on which he would be sacked.

According to some media reports in the course of last week, highly ranked member of the NPP Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko posted on his social media platforms that the party had terminated the appointment of Adomako Baafi and was due to replace him with Adentan MP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah.

But Adomako Baafi who also happens to be a lawyer, dispelled those rumours saying there was no truth to the stories that were published and such information was farce as he was still at post.

He noted that the party has its internal mechanisms and structures and such communication could only come from only members of the National Executive Committee, the appointing body of which he belongs, and no other member(s) of the party have that right.

“This development is as a result of what they say Gabby posted. Gabby is not part of the National Executive. Before someone is relieved of his post an official letter is given and I’m happy the Acting General Secretary spoke to Okay FM and debunked it. They are serious and they will call whoever did the posting on Gabby’s wall” he disclosed.

“In any case how come that Gabby who is not part of the National Executive post something. More so the convention of the party is that before someone is appointed, he should be endorsed by the steering committee and more especially the National Executive Committee. We have not done anything of a sort. We are going to Koforidua, I am in charge of the communication” Adomako Baafi explained in an interview with www.ghanaweb.com.

He insisted that he wasn’t perturbed that the two names that have been linked to the rumour haven’t come out to clarify issues as none of them are credible sources.

The NPP Communication Director, however, added that he rarely interacts with Gabby Otchere Darko and finds it strange that this will come from him alleging that he believes it is from some shameless faces.

“I am told he is gone out of town and even you find it difficult to reach out to him when you call him, you hardly get him. I mean myself, I hardly get him. That is why I don’t want to believe that it was Gabby so the post that was done, I treat it as bogus and it was done by shameless faces” Adomako Baafi remarked.

“I don’t want to prolong issues, I don’t want to set negative image or negative agenda for the party. All I know is that the posting that was done, it is just a faze, it is just a hoax, it is a bogus one” he claimed.

He adds that the current Acting Secretary of the Party, John Boadu has instituted internal probe into the issue and has openly discounted the rumours suggesting he has been replaced by Yaw Buabeng Asamoah as Communications Director.

NPP will be holding its national delegates conference to elect new national leaders in the Eastern Region in July.
