Captain Chubby Adam Mahama (rtd), father of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama who was recently lynched by residents at Denkyira-Obuasi has said his son was such a gentleman to the extent that he would not hurt fly even though he was a military officer.
“I tell you he cannot kill a fly, he wouldn’t do it because he is so sober, so gentle, so caring, a very caring boy,” Captain Adam (rtd) told Kojo Yankson on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, 1 June.
He wondered why the people of Denkyeri-Obuasi exhibited such savagery against another human being on a mere suspicion that he was an armed robber when they had not caught him red-handed perpetuating the crime they accused him of.
So far seven suspects have been arrested by the police, including the assemblyman for Diaso who mobilised the townsfolk to pounce on the father-of-two after some women from whom he had allegedly asked for directions spotted a pistol on him.
The body of the deceased captain has been taken to the 37 Military Hospital.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as well as former Presidents John Rawlings and John Mahama have condemned the lynching.
