An International Diplomatic Consultant has debunked government’s claim that CEO of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah has been arrested in Dubai.

According to Faruk Al-Wahab, the government has failed to give Ghanaians a clear explanation of the issue, leaving room for doubt.

“…is he under arrest, has he been arrested, is he in police cells, is he in prison, or house detention or house arrest or he’s just on hold-up?” he quizzed.

“In my best analysis, NAM1 has not been arrested… the team that went, what are they saying about NAM1. We read that he has given a lot of information but where did the negotiations take place? Was that in the police cells, a hospital, a hotel or in a restaurant?” he added.

Shortly after a warrant was issued for the arrest of the CEO of the troubled gold trading firm, there was news that he had already been arrested in Dubai over a different issue.

The government of Ghana sent a delegation to Dubai to negotiate with authorities there for his extradition, but the delegation returned unsuccessful.

Faruk Al-Wahab, speaking to Kofi Adoma Nwanwani on KofiTV noted that authorities did not follow the right process before sending the delegation to Dubai.

“There are matters that you have to resort into the foreign intelligence services to lead the attack using your foreign ministry and your ambassador…”

According to him, if the process had been followed, Ghana’s Ambassador to Dubai would have liaised with Dubai’s foreign minister, interior minister and the police to schedule an appointment with the appropriate authorities in Dubai for the Ghanaian delegation.

“If they had allowed the Ghana embassy to operate in collaboration with the foreign services intelligence, they could have taken note of rear case scenarios and pass on the information,” he noted stressing that BNI, National security and the Attorney General do not have any power in Dubai.

“You cannot go on the streets of Dubai and just look for the Attorney General’s address. It is called a kingdom state because even a police officer needs instruction from the king to speak to you about international matters”, he added.
