They were picked up by the Police on Monday and arraigned Tuesday on charges of conspiracy and causing unlawful damage at the Tamale Circuit Court in the Northern Region.

Some youth of Salaga on February 12 went on rampage and set ablaze the offices of the New Patriotic Party in the town to protest the announcement of Damongo as the regional capital.

Billboards within Salaga bearing photographs of President Nana Akufo-Addo were pulled down by the angry protesting youth who threatened to storm the residence of the East Gonja Chief Executive to burn down the property.

The MCE, Mohammed Taminu, was at the time in Accra to attend the inauguration of the Savannah Region.

Videos from the town showed the red-white-blue elephant branded building in flames with smoke billowing into the air as scores of the youth, some of who wore read head and arm bands, looked on while others also were seen pulling down campaign billboards of the NPP.

Documents, office equipment among other electronic gadgets such as satellite dish and television sets have been consumed by the fire said to have set at about 6:00 p.m.
