Correspondence from Northern Region:
An over 2 hours early morning rains delayed the commencement of voting in Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region.
The exercise to elect a New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate in some polling centres commenced after 10am.
Speaking to some of the new patriotic party executives, they explained that the rains have not disrupted the voting processes in any way and that they are committed to their schedules.
“Voting has started and delegates have defiled the rains to come out to vote" Shamsudeen Abdul Rahaman a communication Officer said.
In an interaction with some of the electoral commission(EC), officers have revealed that the election has been peaceful.
They also commended the delegates for their peaceful co-existence.
Meanwhile, voting has come to an end in most of the polling stations for counting to begin.
Yendi is one of the keenly contested constituencies in the Northern Region with three aspirants, namely Hajia Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria, Mr. Faruk Mahama, and Alhaji Baba Dani.
