A voter in the ongoing NPP Parliamentary primaries at Effia Constituency in the Western Region has been arrested for taking a picture of his ballot.
Police officers deployed at the station pounced on him immediately after he took the shot and whisked him to the Takoradi Central Police Station.
The arrest sparked tension at the police station as some delegates questioned the law that empowers police officers to effect the arrest.
The Effia contest is a two-horse race between the incumbent MP Joseph Ato Cudjoe who’s also Deputy Energy Minister-in-charge of Finance and Infrastructure and Dr. Adjoa Kwegyirba Aggrey, a Lecturer at the Takoradi Technical University.
Meanwhile, the NPP Western Regional Secretary Charles Bissue who’s also a Presidential Staffer warned the aspirants against the use of ‘macho men’ as failure to do so will attract disqualification.
