A chief from the Akuapem area, in the Eastern region, was arrested for drug trafficking and has since been deported to Ghana after spending two years in a US prison

The chief who was deported in August 2005 was arrested with cocaine allegedly concealed in a box which he claimed was given to him by a certain spare parts dealer at Abossey Okai, Accra to be delivered to their collaborators in the US.

In recent times, a number of Ghanaians have been deported from the US after serving various jail terms on drug charges. In September, 10 Ghanaians were deported from the US after completing their sentences.
