President John Dramani Mahama has challenged his closest contender, Nana Akufo Addo to come clear with his policies since it lacks clarity.

The president who was speaking to Paul Adom Otchere on Good Evening Ghana said, people need to understand what Nana Addo's policies are.

The 1 dam, per village in the Northern region promised by Nana Addo he said is referred to by residents as a dug outs as dams and that in the past, it served as a source of drinking water.

But now that most communities have access to drinking water, the dug outs are being used for livestock watering.

''And so until he [Nana Addo] comes and explain what it means, then one can't understand. But as for barrage dams , irrigation dams; we are already doing it under the Ghana Commercial Agricultural Programme...And so the work going on in the North is massive; and so if you come and say 1 village, 1 dam, you haven't said anything.''

On the promise to establish a factory in each district of Ghana, President said it depends on the factory being talked about. According to the president, the idea is not new but a very old idea under the Rural Enterprise Programme.

''You need to look at the viability of those industries. As a student of economics, the location of factories is based on several factors. And you have to take these factors into consideration...Proximity to raw material, cheap labour, market, power, water; all these things must be taken into consideration.''

Nana Addo's promises he maintained are not new stating that, ''They [Nana's] promises are not new. My government envisaged small and medium scale enterprises...And that is what we are facilitating the private sector to do, government will not involve itself in the small and medium scale enterprise.''

''He has to clarify. He has the tendency to do that [make promises without clarity]. In the free school programme, when you came to the figures, he found it difficult to explain. Is the same thing that is happening here. You just throw out a promise and people just take it.''
