The country’s lawmakers have been challenged to fix the deplorable roads in the country before they could get the support of the citizenry for the construction of a new 450-seater chamber.

According to former appointee under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration, fixing the deteriorating road network across the country will ease the burden of voters who every four years vote for them to be where they are now.

“Fix the roads before you consider building a new parliamentary chamber for the 275 parliamentarians in the country. Until you fix our roads for us and we will not support you “, Former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi under National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Akwasi Agyamang Boadi challenged.

The former government appointee who spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM during panel discussion monitored by MyNewsGh.com, revealed that until that is done, Ghanaians will fiercely resist the decision by Parliament to build any new chamber for members.

Akwasi Agyamang Boadi told the host of ‘Kro Yimu Nsem’ political talk show, Papa Nyameke, the priority of the NDC party and for that matter Ghanaians is good road network and not new parliamentary chamber.

He, therefore, issued a stern warning to NDC lawmakers representing the party in their various constituencies against supporting the move to build a new chamber for Parliamentarians to lose their seats.

“Let me warn any NDC MP who will support this move that, I will personally lead a cause to ensure that a person loses his parliamentary seat”, he warned.

“You cannot tell me we need a new parliamentary chamber whilst roads in Ashanti Region, Volta and other regions are deteriorating”, the former MCE pointed out to the host.
