A member of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region, Sergeant Klomega is said to be in a very critical condition battling for his life in the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after unknown gunmen believed to be armed robbers shot him several times imposing terrifying scars on him.

The appalling incident is reported to have happened on Monday, February 17, 2020, at the outskirts of Adanwomase, a community on the Bonwire-Agona road around 11:30 pm in the night.

According to the Agona District police officer, Sergeant Klomega who was driving a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number GC 4116 -12, was signalled to stop by the gun-wielding men but refused and drove off.

The robbers then shot him through his vehicle injuring him in the process, Dailymailgh.com reported.

Sergeant Klomega was rushed to the Asonomaso Government Hospital but was later transferred to KATH for further treatment.

Police indicated in an incident report sighted by Dailymailgh that efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.

There is a surge in the rate of attacks on the police across the country.

Some few weeks ago, a female police officer was admitted in the hospital after an attack from a gang of men with machete at Kotei in the Oforikrom Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

The female officer who is said to be in mufti was returning from work when these men chanced on her at a hidden area.

Police in the Ashanti Region confirmed the incident and that about 20 of them have been gathered up so far to help in the investigations.

Assemblymember for the area, Justice Atobrah said the victim is currently responding to treatment.

“Lance Corporal Clemencia was also attacked by these same ganged men three days ago. They stabbed her on her ribs and neck. She was rushed to Komfo Anokye Hospital and she is responding to treatment,” he said

Two months ago, a police officer was confirmed dead after a bullion van he was escorting was attacked by some armed men.
