Community Water and Sanitation Agency in Tumu have had their control panels installed recently damaged by power fluctuation transmitting due to excessive high voltage after a rainstorm accompanying with lightning on Tuesday.

The mishap had made it impossible for authorities to pump water through its five high capacity pumps that supplied water to over 1,000 residents of Tumu.

The Systems Manager of the Agency, Mr Saeed Abdul Aziz, who announced it said: “Management of community water and sanitation Agency, Tumu Water system wishes to apologize to its valued customers in selected areas including Nanyua lower, Nanyua upper, bungalows, low cost house and Zongo for the unscheduled interruption to their water supply.”

He blamed the interruption of water supply on the rains, which was followed by thunder storms resulting in the damage of the two control panels at the Baptist Mission and Tumu College of Education.

Mr Saeed said the situation was going to make it difficult for workers to pump water to highland areas due to low pressure and assured residents that efforts was being made to fix the damaged control panels to restore normal services.

He appealed to the VRA in the area to regulate the high voltage experienced occasionally on the water system, adding, “this has been disturbing the system`s inability to distribute water equally”.

The installation of the panels few days ago was part of a package to improve the entire Tumu water system.

The VRA in Tumu during the rainstorm lost about seven poles, which plunged several communities including Kulfuo, Mwanduanu, Pieng into darkness.
