Samira touts government’s achievements

Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, says the Akufo-Addo administration has transformed Ghana’s economy in recent times through prudent programmes and policies.

According to her, the prudent management of the country’s economy through sound policies and programmes such as the ‘Planting for Foods and Jobs’ (PFJ) has immensely benefitted the majority of Ghanaians.

Addressing market women at Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region during a visit at the weekend, Hajia Bawumia, stated that government has planned to spend to improve infrastructure and accelerate economic growth to lessen the plight of Ghanaians.

She said the flagship PFJ has started benefiting over 550 farmers and their numerous defendants.

“This year, Ghana did not import maize for the first time. Rather, we exported plantain to Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso. This is the transformation we have brought about. This is what we call good governance. And I’m not surprised because NPP has demonstrated that it knows how to govern,” she indicated.

She added, “In the days of President Kufuor we saw various social intervention policies and programmes such as the National Health Insurance, free maternal health care and the likes. We, in the NPP, have the foresight and the knowhow to govern than those who plunged us into darkness for three years without solution,” she declared.

Mrs. Bawumia asserted that the NPP had introduced the Senior High School (SHS) policy and paid nursing and teacher trainees’ allowances.

Apart from these, she indicated that the One District, One Factory, One Village, One Dam and many other programmes have begun in earnest.

She thanked the market women for their unflinching support for the NPP government and asked them to continuously pray for President Akufo-Addo and members of the government for God’s wisdom, guidance and protection.

“We need to consolidate the gains so as not to allow anyone with desperation to come and destroy them. Ghanaians gave some people eight years, and we all know what they did– dumsor and mismanagement.”

She was accompanied to the market by the National Women’s Organiser of NPP, Kate Gyamfua; Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive, Akonuasa Gyimah; Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Bonsu; Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator, Kwabena Senkyire and Asokwa NPP Chairman, Rev Fosu Nkrumah.
